Hypnosis 

Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon that most people experiences every day, for instance  when you are enjoying a favorite past time. It is basically a moving away from multiple perspectives, and narrowing down the focus of attention.

For instance, if you are reading a good book, you maybe looking at pages and words, but what you are seeing are pictures in your head as the story unfolds.

If you are driving a long distance, when you finally get to your destination and look back at your journey, you may know that you had to travel down a certain road to get there, but you can't remember doing so.

And if you enjoy doing something creative, like painting, and you think that you have only been doing it for a few minutes but when you look at the clock you realise that it has been more like a few hours.

These are examples of trance states that we all experience.

So going into trance is a natural process, even daydreaming is a state of trance that we all can relate to.

How can hypnosis help

Depression, anxiety disorders, uncontrollable anger, post traumatic stress are all examples of negative trance states, because they require a narrow focus of attention, and are best treated, at least in part, with good constructive hypnotic therapy. 

Is it safe

Some people believe that when they see a hypnotherapist, they are giving themselves over to the therapist, and have no control over what is happening. 

This is just not true

If for instance you are reading a book and you decide that you are not enjoying it or don't agree with the contents, then you would just close it, put it down and walk away. The same thing applies with hypnosis, if someone asks you to do something in trance that you do not believe in, or goes against your moral judgment, you would just reject the idea, and come out of trance.

The fact is you are in control when you are in hypnosis, but it can be such a pleasant experience, many people are disappointed that their time is up and they have to come out of trance.
